Investment Bags For Spring

We often talk about ‘investment pieces’, the items that will supposedly last through a lifetime of wardrobe crises.

Nowhere is this truer than when it comes to a gorgeous handbag. A well-chosen one really can last you forever, and even become a valuable treasure for yourself. For years growing up, we have all bought cheaper bags in our pasts. Even though we hadn’t dipped our toes into Hermes territory and so on... this was just a taste of what was to come.

Eventually, we started looking into brands and matured into the handbag addicts we know and love. Let’s face it, instead of diamonds the biggest consumption of women besides incredible shoes is bags. Nothing wrong with treating yourself on occasion we deserve some pampering now and then.

But what is the right bag for you? And which should you invest in wisely? To be completely honest with you, if it’s your first time buying a designer bag. I don’t advise in buying what everyone and their mum practically has. Reason being one style may work for this person while that same look maybe the complete opposite of you.

A handbag is like a marriage, you have to invest wisely and not feel like you wasted your time. Of course, like a marriage things can work out quite well if you are practically a handbag guru.

Here, I’ve rounded up the bags that are worth pumping your hard-earned money into. And guess what you don’t have to be an expert to take all this knowledge in!

First let’s look at this from a chic fashionistas perspective, but then if you scroll down, there is some useful information about the realistic advantages and disadvantages of investing in some of the world’s sought-after key designer bags.
But let’s start with incredible style….

Meet the ultimate investment bag. Everyone in the world is practically sawing off their right arm to get this bag! It may sound crazy but when people become possessed they will stop at nothing to own a lovely bag. Don’t stress over it though, it will always be available and so many boutiques sell them. Or you can always go to the resale market. They tend to have better prices then the boutiques and you save not always spending retail. This is all about preference of course.

The classic flap has the iconic interlocking CC’s clasp and chain strap interwoven with leather. It comes in a variety of colours depending on the seasons. But it is advised if you are going to buy a Chanel, stick with the classic black and gold hardware. You can’t go wrong with celebrating this iconic design.

Advantages- You will own a lovely classic handbag with heritage and elegance. Scoring this beauty at a good price point from preloved sites. Having a versatile bag, you can wear casually shopping & enjoying a cup of hot tea. Then go to a nice dinner or event with this lovely swinging from your shoulder. Most importantly, it makes you feel feminine like a true lady.

Disadvantages- This all goes by preference of course. The issue with a flap is it can get annoying having to turn it every 5 minutes to get into your bag maybe to get your purse out and pay at a café. Or you feel as if you can only fit a lipstick inside and not much else. This can be an issue if the depth of the bag is far too small. Chanel flaps originally were basically clutches on a chain and as gorgeous as they are, you have to ask yourself would this bother me? Can I use this bag all the time? Or does it feel more like a showpiece/ornament.

If you still desire a Chanel, try getting a Chanel tote, hobo, or shoulder bag. These are top loaders and tend to have bigger depths. This way you can have glamour without sacrificing day to day reality.

The Bayswater is a Mulberry icon. Launched in 2003, its classy structure, timeless design and signature postman’s lock made it an instant best seller. Now, more than a decade after it was first introduced, it is still a sought after classic tote. The Bayswater has enhancing features and an adapting silhouette that takes the ultimate in luxury buying to a whole new level. This bag was made for practicality for customers modern lives.

As a proud owner, myself of a classic Bayswater in Chocolate brown leather. I have to say it is the most beautiful tote I have ever owned. What I love most about this bag is how it has such a retro look while still being extra ordinary.

Advantages- Owning something you can fit a lot of items in including a lightweight cardigan or jumper. Best travel companion especially on those long flights from Paris to Milan. The Bayswater goes with every outfit. Especially if you buy a neutral tone like brown or black. It is made well thanks to The British Textile Industry who not only stands by their craft but presents such beautiful creations to life. One more thing, it gets even better with age like fine wine.

Disadvantages- Not everyone likes this simplistic style. And of course, having it on the crock of your arm could irritate some.

       Christian Dior Lady Dior Bag
The Lady Dior was created in 1994 with the sole purpose in becoming a classic.

Originally named ‘chouchou’ (French for ‘favourite’). Its key attributes are its ‘cannage’ topstitching, described by Dior as ‘a network of lines stitched vertically and diagonally create a precise harmony from which cushions of quilted leather emerge like a scattering of everlasting diamonds. Available in a variety of colours and fabrics for each season. It’s worth knowing you can score a great beauty in patent or possibly lambskin leather.

Advantages- It can be the perfect dressy cross-body bag if you are desiring something with a little more glamour and less every day. The look is always fresh and never trendy. You can get really good deals on some on used sites. They are very versatile and fun and show off your personality.

Disadvantages- Not everyone can like a satchel. Sometimes the strap feels strange on something that feels like it should be carried and not rest on your shoulder. The smaller look could give off a childlike vibe and not feel very age appropriate. Not a fan of the overall appearance.

            Short but Sweet. Investment Purse

When people are too busy worry about bags to invest in, they seem to forget about a good solid purse. For those of you who feel there isn’t any point you could be making a costly mistake.

Advantages- Having a good solid foundation is important and this should also be applied when it comes to your purse. Coated canvas and leather is a great idea! Not only will you be banging it around more in your bag, but it can take a beating and last much longer. A classic chic design can always go a long way but another good point to make is the style. A classic compact French wallet is the best choice. You can customise what colour, and features that you find useful especially if you are carrying many cards.

Disadvantages- You may wish to splurge on a bag over a wallet. If this is the case, I advise in getting an unknown brand that is 100 percent leather. This way you get a good quality product without sacrificing craftsmanship.

What do you think of these investment bags?
