Today's Fashion Forecast: Pencil Skirts

In the new issue of Bauchle Fashion, I’m recalling my love affair with old Hollywood. The mysterious events occurring, with equally iconic legends hitting the screen to bring such magic to our eyes. During a time period when fashion was affected by television and influential figures. The new skirt was structured around and worn by the celebrity elite such as, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly and many more. In the 1950s the pencil skirt was most popular since it hugged the body just right to resemble a pencil. To this day, the pencil is slim-fitting with a straight, narrow cut. Generally, the hem falls to, or is just below the knee and it tailored for a close fit. It is one of the most versatile items to own in your wardrobe.

For those who don’t know, the first pencil skirt to be constructed was designed by Christian Dior as part of his H-Line collection in 1954. Dior had spent the previous three years moving away from his “New Look” which had dictated fashion from 1947 until 1950, with its tight waist and full skirts.

In homage to the skirt, fashion celebrates the iconic piece for decades to come. This new season, brings an assemble of new textures, prints, and fabrics. Only one item stands out in the best way possible. The legendry pencil skirt is the new classic sexy with elegance attached. Isn’t it fantastic when you find an item you can wear at the office and then dress up for a night out on the town?
