6 Things You Should Know Before Visiting Dubai

When it comes to deciding on where to travel this year, the choice is simple Dubai. It has become one of the most popular destinations to unwind, recharge, and just have a really good time. And when it comes to a holiday, I think most of us need one, me included. This wasn’t a hard decision and even though it was a new experience it didn’t stop me from absorbing the energy around me.

In case you don’t know, Dubai is a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture, and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. It all sounds so fun and dreamy right? Maybe it will be your next holiday spot to check out.

Before you make this decision, you need to read my short guide that will prepare you to navigate around the city and have the vacation hot spot for a lifetime.

Go all out on your hotel

It is important to choose a hotel that fits your needs and personal comfort level. This is all part of the holiday experience and when done well, it will cover your entire mood while being here.

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai is a five-star hotel and has one of the best views you will ever see in the entire place. It may be a bit pricey to some, but there are travel sites with amazing deals. The rooms are so cosy and have a modern backdrop. There is an ocean front view if you’re into that kind of thing. And most importantly when it comes to dinning the whole atmosphere is spectacular. The hotel itself takes such good care of you and treat you like a good friend; it is a refreshing mix.

Find the best shopping

Mall of the Emirates

Mall of the Emirates is such a prime location to shop. If you are looking to check out something special this is one place that has a lot to fancy. The variety is unlike anywhere I have seen before, and it doesn’t hurt that the interior is gorgeous to admire while you shop.

Burj Khalifa Spired 828-meter skyscraper with a viewing deck, restaurant, hotel, and offices and 11-hectare park. Might I say anymore? It is the one landmark anyone visiting Dubai should check out.

Dress for the weather

I can’t tell you how many times people go on holiday and forget to dress appropriately for the climate. Make sure you check the forecast either online or on your phone. Most people have an app built in; you can even check the time zone differences as well. The best advice on the styles to wear is make it minimal. And take pieces you know you can wear different ways. This way you get your wear and versatility becomes your friend. It makes dressing for day, evening, and night a breeze.

The entertainment factors

La Perle by Dragone Dubai

Shopping and seeing the sights can be entertaining, but that is to be expected. Did you know Dubai offers musical’s you can go see. So, if you happen to be a Broadway lover, you don’t need Time Square for that venture. La Perle by Dragone Dubai is a one of a kind show that is part light show, and a circus for your eyes. It follows the storyline of Arabia and the city of Dubai, introducing the origins of the destination. Besides amazing views, you can get a full on performance from feating stunts, to dancing performances, the visual effects and more surprises. I recommend this show highly.

Have fun

I can’t say this enough. Some people tend to not let loose or enjoy themselves on vacation and that just isn’t right. You need to leave all that negative energy if there is any and just enjoy where you are. Live in the moment and make sure you have the best time of your life.

  4. I had a eight hour layover in Dubai ( starting at 3a.m.) right before the pandemic. We had an awesome walking tour of the city and a really great breakfast buffet at a posh hotel. It's one place I would love to visit again! Hopping over from the blog hop. Have a nice week.

  6. Wow! While I'd love to say I've been to Dubai, I have not! It looks amazing and like a wonderful place to celebrate absolutely anything! My son-in-law spent several hours there years ago when he was deployed. He had many tales to tell of the shopping!

  8. That looks amazing! I worked with a family at the school that had just moved here from Dubai (after having left the US to live there for a couple years) and it did sound like such a neat place to explore.

  9. I went to Dubai for business trips several times in the early 2000s. It's changed a lot since then, even more glamorous! I recommend the gold soukhs. The jewellery isn't particularly cheap, but the gold is a higher quality, mostly 18 carat. Thanks for linking.
